Linguistics Minor

Linguistics Minor

The Minor in Linguistics requires the completion of 15 semester credits in foundational linguistic content coupled with one’s choice of (at least) one applied linguistic elective course.

Careers with a Linguistics Minor

A background in linguistics is useful in fields such as anthropology, sociology, education, language teaching, library science, artificial intelligence, psychology, and cognitive science.

  • Courses & Curriculum

    The Linguistics Minor requires a minimum of 15 hours, including these core courses:

    • LING 3500 - Introduction to Linguistics
    • LING 4600 - Introduction to Phonetics
    • LING 4700 - Syntactic Description of English
    • LING 4860 - How to Do Things with Words: An Introduction to Semantics and Pragmatics
