Aerospace Studies Minor

The Aerospace Studies minor, offered through the AFROTC program, formally recognizes the rigorous training cadets undergo to become commissioned officers in the U.S. Armed Forces. Cadets must complete over 24 credit hours in Aerospace Studies, focusing on leadership, military knowledge, and management skills. While primarily designed for ROTC cadets, the minor is also open to non-ROTC students, providing them with insight into the U.S. military and leadership principles applicable to any career path.

There are no admission requirements beyond University admission requirements.

Curriculum 

The Aerospace Studies minor requires 16 credit hours and gives students a solid grounding in leadership, military structure, and defense policy. Key courses include AST 3010 โ€“ Management Concepts and Practices I, which covers essential leadership and management skills; AST 3020 โ€“ Military Professionalism and Leadership Theory, which emphasizes ethical leadership; and AST 4020 โ€“ Strategy and the Use of Force: American Defense Policymaking, which examines U.S. defense policy and military strategy. These courses help students develop practical skills that are valuable in both military and civilian careers.

Career Opportunities

AFROTC members (cadets) are required to complete a comprehensive set of Aerospace Studies courses in order to earn commission as officers in the U.S. Armed Forces. The Aerospace Studies minor serves as formal recognition of the dedication and effort these cadets put into completing the ROTC program.
