Electronic Media Associate Degree

The Electronic Media program is founded on the belief that through intensive individualized instruction in a hands-on atmosphere, you can prepare in only two years for a beginning position in the electronic media field of audio, video and multimedia (radio or TV stations, cable TV, corporate communications, advertising agencies, video/sports production companies, or multimedia production houses).

    Our regional campuses offer students the excellence of an OHIO education combined with outstanding faculty while remaining close to home. The Electronic Media associate degree is available on two of our regional campuses:

    Southern Campus

    Lancaster Campus

Admissions Requirements

There are no admission requirements beyond University admission requirements. This degree is open to all students at 51ÂÒÂ× Lancaster and 51ÂÒÂ× Southern.

 

Curriculum

The Electronic Media major requires a minimum of 60 credit hours. Through core requirements, students gain an overview of the electronic media field, learn how business is conducted in media industries, gain basic photography and videography skills, develop the basic principles of scriptwriting for electronic media distribution, and explore principles and practices of media sales and advertising.

After completing general education and core requirements, students gain a deeper understanding of audio and video production through advanced coursework, practicums and internships. Additional courses covering topics like multimedia production design, news distribution platforms and website design help round out their experience and understanding of the field.

Career Opportunities

Graduates of this program have gone on to find jobs across the U.S. in various areas of electronic media. Career paths include roles in radio and TV broadcasting, cable television, advertising agencies, production studios, corporate or government communications, digital and web-based companies, healthcare media, Christian broadcasting and media ministry, live event audio-video, sports productions, educational media, or freelance work. Additionally, students are well-equipped to pursue further education in a bachelor's degree program.
