Curriculum

Through the Information and Telecommunication Systems minor, students learn the fundamentals of modern communication networks, preparing them for careers in tech-driven industries. The minor requires a minimum of 19 credit hours.

Students take three required courses: Introduction to Information and Telecommunication Systems (ITS 2140), which provides an overview of the field; Data Networking (ITS 2300), in which students learn how data is transmitted across complex networks; and Strategic Decision Making in Information and Telecommunication Industries (ITS 4020), which challenges students to apply their technical knowledge in real-world business and policy contexts. Students choose three elective courses from an array of electives that will help them round out their experience.

Career Opportunities

The Information and Telecommunications Systems minor helps students gain a competitive edge for the job market by providing foundational knowledge of today’s digital communication networks — an increasingly valuable skill across industries. It is a popular choice among students majoring in business, media arts, and visual communication, as it complements those fields with practical technical insight.
