Meet the Dean

Roxanne Schroeder-Arce is an administrator, scholar, artist, teacher and arts advocate. She has recently been named Dean of the Chaddock + Morrow College of Fine Arts at 51ยายื. Before OHIO, she was Associate Dean of UTeach Fine Arts and Associate Professor of Theatre Education at the University of Texas at Austin. She also served as Assistant Professor of Theatre Education at both Emerson College in Boston and California State University at Fresno. Her artistry, pedagogy, and scholarship are intertwined and deeply inform her higher education leadership. She received her M.F.A. in Drama and Theatre for Youth from UT Austin and her B.S. degree and teaching credential from Emerson College.

Dean Schroeder-Arce's research interests include culturally responsive theatre education and cultural representation in theatre for young audiences. Her plays have been presented to children and families in multiple theatres, schools and community spaces throughout the United States. As an engaged leader, Roxanne Schroeder-Arce consistently offers extensive academic, community, national and international service.

A product of Upward Bound and a first-generation college attendee, she has also taught in TRIO programs as well as public schools. Dean Schroeder-Arce has led professional development programs with teachers throughout the United States and internationally in countries such as Costa Rica, South Korea, and Switzerland. She also led a study abroad program in Mexico City. She has received recognition for her work from several organizations, including the Ann Flagg Multicultural Award from the American Alliance for Theatre and Education.
