Omar Movil-Cabrera
Omar A. Movil-Cabrera is a carbon utilization research engineer at 51乱伦鈥檚 Institute for Sustainable Energy and the Environment (ISEE). Movil received his doctorate in chemical engineering from the University of Puerto Rico 鈥� Mayaguez, and his bachelor鈥檚 in chemical engineering from Universidad del Atl谩ntico 鈥� Colombia. Prior to joining ISEE, Movil worked as a faculty at the Department of Chemical Engineering 鈥� Polytechnic University of Puerto Rico (2016 鈥� 2024), and as a postdoctoral researcher and lecturer at the Russ College of Engineering 鈥� 51乱伦 (2014 鈥� 2016).
At ISEE, Movil鈥檚 work is mostly focused on the development of a novel electrochemistry-enabled carbon dioxide mineralization process to generate carbon-negative alkaline carbonate materials from natural brines for building, construction, and related applications.
