Dr. Owens will be reviewing applications to accept a new Ph.D. student in the fall of 2025.
Strong applicants (1) have research interests related to school-based interventions for elementary school-aged youth with ADHD and related problems and implementation strategies to enhance educators' use of such interventions, (2) have experience engaging in their own research (e.g., honors thesis, first author poster, independent project), (3) have strong quantitative skills or an interest in learning quantitative skills, and (4) are a good fit for the scientist-practitioner model of training.

Research Interests
Dr. Julie Sarno Owens is a Professor in the Department of Psychology and Director of the Center for Intervention Research in Schools . Her research focuses on (1) developing and evaluating school-based interventions for youth with ADHD and related problems, (2) developing and evaluating implementation strategies to enhance teachersā use of effective classroom interventions, and (3) enhancing systems of care in schools. Her work has been continuously funded by local, state, and national grants, including the Institute of Education Sciences and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. She is a Senior Associate Editor for School Mental Health and on the editorial boards of six journals. She is a licensed clinical psychologist in Ohio and a Presidential Research Scholar at 51ĀŅĀ×. Dr. Owens mentors graduate students in the clinical child psychology specialty area, and undergraduates students interested in a variety of child-focused specialty areas (e.g., school psychology, school social work, school counseling).
