Admissions Information | Online Communication Graduate Programs

Master of Communication and Master of Arts in Organizational Communication

The following admissions guidelines apply to both the Master of Arts in Organizational Communication and the Master of Communication, offered fully online through the Scripps College of Communication.

All graduate applications must be submitted electronically through the Graduate College. Be sure to select ā€œonlineā€ in the Program Selection section of the application).

Admissions Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited U.S. college or university or equivalent
  • GPA of 3.0 or higher
    Students who do not meet the GPA requirements are still encouraged to discuss their candidacy with the OHIO Online enrollment team or the program director
  • Official transcripts for all previously attended undergraduate and graduate institutions
  • Resume or CV
  • Goals statement consisting of a one-page (maximum) essay describing the student’s professional goals and explaining how the program will help the student achieve their goals
  • Two letters of recommendation appraising the applicant’s personal and professional qualities as well as capability for graduate study. The names and email addresses for references will be requested at the time the online application is submitted.
  • English Proficiency: Please review information about 51ĀŅĀ×’s English Language Proficiency requirements
  • A $50 application fee is associated with the submission of the application for this program.

Please note:

  • Students with an undergraduate GPA below 3.0 will be required to achieve a GPA of 3.0 or higher during the first 8 credit hours of graduate coursework in order to remain in the program.
  • For the MA in Organizational Communication, a minimum of three years of work experience is preferred (but not required)
  • MA and MC Application Deadlines

    The deadlines below show upcoming application deadlines for the MA and MC programs.

    Spring 2026 Term A: December 8, 2025.

    Spring 2026 Term B: February 2, 2026.

    Summer 2026 Term A: April 13, 2026

    Summer 2026 Term B: June 8, 2026

    Fall 2026 Term A: August 3, 2026

    Spring 2027 Term B: September 28, 2026

Scripps Online Graduate Certificates Admissions Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited U.S. college or university or equivalent
  • Official transcripts for from the institution where a bachelor's degree has been or will be granted
  • A $50 application fee is associated with the submission of the application for this program.
  • Additional materials as required by program (review the certificate program webpage for additional information)
