Undecided Majors
Not sure what you want to study? You've got options!

Undecided Major

"Undeclared" or "undecided" is a popular option among OHIO students, and we have a handful of options for students that aren't ready to commit to a specific major. We're here to help you make the right choice for you.

Even for those who do select a major, some may end up changing their major as their interest evolve. In many ways, this is as it should be—college is a time for self-discovery and exploration. Explore your strengths, academic interests and talents before committing to a major!

If you're unsure what you want to major in, there are several options you can choose from at OHIO:

Undecided – University-wide Major Exploration

The University-wide Major Exploration helps students identify which of 51ĀŅĀ×’s 250+ majors interest them. Students complete a series of assessments and engage in conversations with their success advisors about different options before they commit to their major of their choice. While exploring majors, students complete courses that help them make progress toward earning their 51ĀŅĀ× degree in a timely manner.

You may be a great fit to begin your college journey as an exploring/undecided if you:

  • Are open to discovering which major aligns best with your goals
  • Want clarity about when and how to choose a major
  • Prefer to make thoughtful, informed decisions rather than rushing into one
  • Have many interests and talents you’d like to explore
  • Value dedicated time to learn, reflect, and chart the right academic path for you

The Exploration major is available on our Athens campus, as well as all our regional campuses and online.
