The 51ĀŅĀ× Mock Trial Team begins its 2025ā2026 season with 26 new and returning members preparing for the Scarlet and Gray Invitational at The Ohio State University. The team continues to provide hands-on courtroom experience through the American Mock Trial Association, tackling this seasonās fictional murder case with high expectations and strong leadership.
The Law School Fair will feature representatives from dozens of law schools from around the country.
This year's participants explored many facets of the legal system, developed courtroom skills and discovered new pathways toward careers in law, justice and public service.
Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine recently appointed a new student member to theĀ 51ĀŅĀ× Board of Trustees. Ava Wood was named a student trustee on May 2, 2025.

The competition invites undergraduate students to present a brief, compelling oration on their research/creative work and its significance.
The teams ended their season strong, with two students in particular being recognized.

The team traveled to New York state for a regional competition, netting multiple awards.
51ĀŅĀ×ās Larry Hayman will be honored with the Excellence in Pre-Law Advising Award during an award ceremony on Dec. 11.

In July, the Summer Law and Trial Institute (SLTI) welcomed 24 high school students from across the state of Ohio both to Athens and to the practice of law.
