Three ways faculty, staff can engage with Career Services
Faculty and staff work every day to help prepare 51ĀŅĀ× students for success after graduation.
Career Services is here to be a partner in that workāwhether by providing resources, connecting students to opportunities, or equipping OHIO faculty and staff with tools to integrate career readiness into their interactions with students. This fall, there are three meaningful ways faculty and staff can join Career Services in supporting student success.
1. Register for the Career Champions Program
The Career Champions Program is designed for faculty and staff who want to help students connect classroom learning to career readiness. Through a short series of workshops, participants gain tools and strategies to integrate career conversations into their everyday interactions with students. Career Champions also receive access to resources, updates on career trends, and a visible designation that signals to students they are a trusted career ally.
2. Donate to the Career Closet
The Career Closet provides OHIO students with free professional attire for interviews, career fairs, and networking events. This service depends on donations from alumni, faculty, staff and community members. After a busy fall career fair season, the inventory is running very low, and your help is needed in replenishing the closet.
If you have gently used business casual or business professional clothing, consider contributing this fall. Donations may be dropped off MondayāFriday, 8 a.m.ā5 p.m. in Baker 507. Career Services can also arrange a campus pick-upājust contact them at career@ohio.edu. Your donation can directly impact a studentās confidence and success as they prepare for career opportunities.
3. Request a workshop
Career Services offers a variety of workshops that can be delivered in classrooms, student organizations or department meetings. Topics include resume and cover letter writing, interviewing skills, job search strategies and exploring career pathways. By requesting a workshop, faculty and staff can help students build career competencies while reinforcing the connection between academic learning and professional success.
When faculty and staff partner with Career Services, students benefit from a campus-wide network of support that helps them explore, prepare, and launch into their careers. Whether you register as a Career Champion, donate to the Career Closet, or invite Career Services into your classroom, your involvement makes a lasting impact.
