OHIO to host Douglas W. Tallamy for Darwin Lecture on Oct. 15

51ĀŅĀ×’s Ohio Center for Ecological and Evolutionary Studies (OCEES) will host New York Times best-selling author, conservationist and scientist Douglas W. Tallamy for the OCEES 2025 Darwin Lecture on Wednesday, Oct. 15, in Walter Hall room 135 at 6:30 p.m.

Tallamy is a professor in the Department of Entomology and Wildlife Ecology at the University of Delaware. He is also the author of the best-selling books "Nature's Best Hope," "The Nature of Oaksā€ and "Bringing Nature Home: How You Can Sustain Wildlife with Native Plants."

Tallamy will address recent headlines about global insect declines, the impending extinction of one million species worldwide and three billion fewer birds in North America and how ineffective our current landscape designs have been at sustaining the plants and animals that sustain us. He will also discuss simple steps that each of us can- and must- take to reverse declining biodiversity on our own properties and will explain why we, ourselves, are nature’s best hope.

The event is free and open to OHIO students, faculty and staff as well as the public.
