The Office of Instructional Design (OID) invites 51 faculty to join Feedback in Focus, a series of fast, practical micro-workshops designed to help transform feedback from a grading task into a powerful teaching tool.

Each 20-minute session offers ready to use strategies that strengthen connections, boost engagement and support student success in any learning environment.

From building rapport in the first week to ensuring students can find and use feedback, this series focuses on small shifts that make a big difference. Learn how to give feedback that fosters growth, communicate more effectively in Canvas and integrate real time reflection into your teaching flow. Whether you attend one session or the full series, you’ll leave with quick wins that make your teaching more effective and your feedback more impactful.

Beyond Hello — Elevating Connection in Intro Discussions

Turn first-week introductions into lasting connections.
Week One sets the tone for everything that follows. This micro-workshop helps you move beyond surface-level greetings to use introductory discussions as moments for meaningful, personalized feedback. Learn how tone, curiosity and thoughtful follow-up questions can help you build trust, show presence and make every student feel seen and valued.

Session 2: Feedback in the Flow — Real-Time Strategies for Teaching Success

Discover how to give and gather feedback as learning happens. This interactive session shares quick, low-effort ways to integrate feedback into your teaching without interrupting your flow. Session 3: Pick, Click, Communicate — Navigating Canvas Feedback Options

Simplify your feedback workflow with the right tools.
Canvas provides several ways to communicate feedback—but which ones really work for you and your students? This session walks you through the most effective options, showing how to match each tool to your teaching goals and workflow for clear, consistent communication.

Session 4: Making Feedback Findable — Helping Students Locate and Use Instructor Comments in Canvas

Dec. 1, 2025 | 12:10–12:30 p.m.

Your feedback matters—but only if students see it.
If you’ve ever heard, “I didn’t know there was feedback on that,” this session is for you. Learn easy ways to help students find, read and apply your comments, rubrics and annotations in Canvas. Discover small design tweaks and activities that ensure your feedback is not just delivered—but truly used to improve learning.
