This October, all members of the 51ĀŅĀ× community are invited to celebrate the 22nd annual Cybersecurity Awareness Month.

51ĀŅĀ× has teamed up with the to become a Cybersecurity Awareness Month Champion. The Information Security Office has activities planned throughout the month and hopes that you will join in as we celebrate good cybersecurity practices.

Activities for the month of October include:

• The third annual CyberMania competition against Miami University: Complete a short 5 question survey about your confidence with cybersecurity concepts. The school with the most participation wins.
  • All participants will be entered to win a prize from the Information Security office. The competition kicks off on Sept. 26 and concludes on Oct. 31. You can visit the CyberMania Scoreboard to check in on the score throughout the competition.
• Come visit the Information Security Office at the Faculty and Staff Resource Fair on Oct. 1 from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. to pick up some swag, chat about Cybersecurity Awareness Month activities and ask questions about cybersecurity best practices.
• The Information Security Office will host a Cybersecuity Awareness Month Coffee Chat seminar series for the OHIO community.
  • This seminar series is open to faculty, staff and community members who want to learn more about cybersecurity at OHIO. Coffee Chat Sessions will be held each Wednesday morning from 8:30 a.m.-10 a.m. in Baker University Center 239 beginning Sept. 24, 2025, and concluding Oct. 29, 2025. Featured topics include Data Storage and Retention, Securing University Work, IT Vendor Review Process, Security Scorecard Assessments, and Phishing. Participants can attend in person or virtually. Be sure to register online to reserve your spot.   
• Each week throughout the month,  the organizers will explore different cybersecurity related themes through a series of newsletter articles featuring topics such as MFA, phishing, upgrading software and devices, and strong passwords.
• A different online cybersecurity game will be featured each week, where you can learn about cybersecurity topics and terms. For each game, participants will be entered to win a prize from the Information Security Office.
• The month will conclude with a Cybersecurity themed movie night in the Baker University Center Theater featuring the movie: Zero Days on Octo. 28 at 5:30 p.m. Pizza and snacks will be provided, but .
