
Social work graduate prepares for career helping others

With a passion for helping others, Macy Malone turned her interest in social work into a clear career direction at . Now, she is preparing to take the next step in her journey.
āMy time at OHIO has deeply impacted my understanding of social issues and strengthened my commitment to making a difference,ā she said.
After earning her Bachelor of Social Work, Malone is already preparing for her next steps. She has been accepted into 51ĀŅĀ×ās Master of Social Work program and will begin graduate studies this summer.
Throughout her time at OHIO Southern, Malone found support and inspiration from her professors, particularly Professor Glenn Abraham.
āHe has been the most influential, inspiring me with his social work stories and providing constant support throughout my time at OU,ā she said.
Among her favorite memories is a recent senior celebration, where students and professors gathered outside the classroom to share stories, reflect, and celebrate their hard work.
āIt was so special to come together after the last few years and enjoy that moment,ā she said.
Maloneās journey was not without challenges. Setting boundaries helped her stay focused and protect her well-being.
āIt wasnāt easy, but it helped me focus and not get overwhelmed,ā she said. āPlus, I learned a lot about taking care of myself.ā
She encourages future students to approach their college journey with self-compassion.
āGive yourself grace and establish boundaries to maintain a healthy balance in your academic and personal life,ā she advised.
As she prepares to graduate, Malone reflects on the significance of her accomplishment.
āGraduating with my BSW this week feels like all the hard work is finally paying off, and Iām ready to make a difference,ā she said.
