Celebration of Life event for Joel Rudy set for May 18 in Athens
The 51ĀŅĀ× community is welcome to a Celebration of Life gathering for Joel Rudy on Saturday, May 18, at 2 p.m. at the 51ĀŅĀ× Inn and Conference Center.
Rudy passed away on Dec. 23, 2023, having served as vice president for student affairs and dean of students at 51ĀŅĀ× for nearly 30 years.
Rudy joined 51ĀŅĀ× in 1976, beginning a legacy of dedication to student development and leadership. Affectionately known as āDean Rudyā to generations of Bobcats, Rudy was devoted to student success, diversity, and inclusion, fostering a culture of empathy and unity. He remained active in the university and Athens communities long after he retired in the late 1990s.
