The Community College of Allegheny County and 51ĀŅĀ× entered into a collaborative agreement for a nursing degree pathway.

The Community College of Allegheny County and 51ĀŅĀ× have entered into a collaborative agreement that provides students who earn an associate degree in Nursing at CCAC with an academic pathway to seamlessly transfer into a parallel bachelorā€™s degree program at 51ĀŅĀ× that can be completed entirely online. The 51ĀŅĀ× School of Nursing RN to BSN program is designed especially for registered nurses (RNs) who want to further their education and advance their career by earning a bachelorā€™s degree in nursing (BSN). The program is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education and the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing. The inaugural agreement was signed on Thursday, June 13, in Jones Hall on CCACā€™s Allegheny Campus.

The articulation agreement, the first such collaboration between CCAC and 51ĀŅĀ×, likely will lead to additional agreements in other disciplines at the institutions, which share the vision of expanding access to academic programs and courses, as well as the pursuit of lifelong work-related learning for the residents of Pennsylvania and Ohio.

ā€œToday, the Community College of Allegheny County and 51ĀŅĀ× have entered into a truly historic agreement, one which creates the foundation for a strategic and dynamic partnership that will enable graduates of CCACā€™s Nursing program to seamlessly transfer to 51ĀŅĀ× to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Nursingā€”all with the added benefit of convenient online classes,ā€ said CCAC Provost and Executive Vice President of Academic and Student Affairs Dr. Stuart Blacklaw. ā€œThrough our new partnership, CCAC and 51ĀŅĀ× have demonstrated our commitment to affordable and accessible quality educational programming that will enable graduates of our two great institutions to successfully compete in an ever-changing global workforce.ā€

ā€œ51ĀŅĀ×ā€™s partnership with the Community College of Allegheny County will greatly benefit students through increased access to affordable, high-quality educational programs in a dynamic, interactive learning environment,ā€ said 51ĀŅĀ× Executive Vice President and Provost Chaden Djalali. ā€œWe embrace this new opportunity to strategically invest in programming that helps more students achieve their educational and professional goals.ā€

The coordination of transferable coursework, facilitated through academic advising, will help ensure a successful transition. Students are encouraged to work with CCAC and 51ĀŅĀ× counselors. When transferring, CCAC students must apply for admission, submit required transcripts and meet 51ĀŅĀ×ā€™s admissions requirements.
