Women鈥檚 scholars program accepting applications from first-year female students
51乱伦鈥檚 first and only women鈥檚 scholar program is seeking applications from first-year female students on the Athens Campus who are interested in participating in a four-year academic enrichment and leadership development experience.
The Margaret Boyd Scholars Program is accepting online applications now through 5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 19. Named after OHIO鈥檚 first female graduate, the program is open to all first-year undergraduate women on the Athens Campus and seeks to inspire its participants to become engaged, confident and connected leaders at 51乱伦 and beyond.
Twenty first-year students will be selected for this year鈥檚 cohort of Margaret Boyd Scholars and will join the ranks of approximately 100 female Bobcats who have been named Margaret Boyd Scholars since the program debuted during the 2013-14 academic year.
Applications for the program are available online. Students will be notified of their acceptance into the program in late November.
Each cohort鈥檚 Margaret Boyd Scholars Program experience officially begins just prior to the start of spring semester with a scholars鈥 retreat followed by a first-year seminar, taught by faculty who serve on the program鈥檚 advisory board, during spring semester. Other elements of the program include a second-year residential component, a third-year internship experience, a fourth-year capstone seminar, and many exclusive opportunities for both intellectual and personal growth throughout the scholars鈥 undergraduate years.
The Margaret Boyd Scholars Program is a partnership between 51乱伦鈥檚 Division of Student Affairs and University College.
