Our Mission

   Purpose and Goals: The American Medical Student Association (AMSA) is a student-led, independent, and global organization dedicated to supporting and empowering future physicians. Founded in 1950, AMSA serves as a platform for pre-medical and medical students to grow as leaders, advocates, and compassionate healthcare professionals.
  Mission: To educate and empower diverse future physicians to become advocates for equitable healthcare and to foster wellness for patients.
   AMSA believes that it takes more than medical school to make a physician—it takes a commitment to justice, compassion, and lifelong learning.

Services Provided

At 51ÂÒÂ× Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine, AMSA serves as a vital hub for student engagement, professional development, and social impact.
Services to the Community, College, and Osteopathic Profession include:
Educational Enrichment- AMSA hosts panels, discussions, and workshops on topics such as healthcare policy, research, and ethical issues in medicine.
Professional Development- Through networking events and mentorship opportunities, AMSA supports students in their journey to becoming compassionate and competent osteopathic physicians.
Campus Engagement- AMSA organizes events that foster a sense of community and support among medical students, including wellness initiatives and academic resources.

Tentative Schedule for 2025-2026

AMSA will be having 6 events this 2025-2026 school year (3 per semester), including mentorship opportunities, community drive opportunities, and educational opportunities. Athens AMSA chapter will also be partnering with several other Athens based clubs to benefit the community throughout the academic year. Finances will be covered through fundraising and donations already made from previous years.
