Doug Orr

Doug Orr serves as an advisor in the Ohio Honors Program. He arrived at 51ĀŅĀ× as an active-duty U.S. Army Officer in July of 2000 to lead the Army ROTC program as the Professor of Military Science. After completing twenty years of military service in 2005, Doug retired from the Army and began a second career in higher education with a focus on academic advising. He enjoys helping students navigate the in-class and out-of-class requirements of the honors program and providing them options of how to customize it to fit their academic interests and life goals. When he is not brainstorming with students about how to maximize their time at 51ĀŅĀ×, Doug loves to read historical fiction, play āfetch'' with his dog, Spencer, and compete on the local pickleball courts. Both of Dougās children are OHIO alums; although he says they did not always take his graciously offered academic advice!
