Mission, Goals, and Objectives for MSDI

Mission

  • To provide a personalized, evidence-based education with a focus on community outreach, medical nutrition therapy, professional growth, and sustainability.
  • To prepare dietitians who are innovative leaders and advocates who will inspire change and promote health and wellness.

Program Goal 1

The Combined Master of Science and Dietetic Internship at 51ĀŅĀ× will prepare quality, entry-level registered dietitians.

Objectives

  • At least 80% of interns complete program requirements within 18 months  (150% of planned program length).
  • Of graduates who seek employment, at least 80% percent are employed in nutrition and dietetics or related fields within 12 months of graduation.
  • At least 80% percent of program graduates take the CDR credentialing exam for dietitian nutritionists within 12 months of program completion.
  • The program’s one-year pass rate (graduates who pass the registration exam within one year of first attempt) on the CDR credentialing exam for dietitian nutritionists is at least 80%.
  • 90% of employers will perceive program graduates to be quality, entry-level registered dietitians within 12 months of graduation.  

Program Goal 2

Graduates will enhance the health and wellness of the communities they serve.

Objectives

  • 80% of graduates will have a position where they enhance the nutrition status, health, or wellness of patients, clients or customers within 12 months of graduation.

Program Concentration

The program concentration is community health and wellness. This concentration will be tied throughout your graduate classes and internship rotations to ensure all interns graduate with diverse experiences and skills in community wellness.
